The aim of this web site is to present, in summary form, the history of Hellenism in Venice, and more specifically of the Greek Orthodox Community, founded in 1498.

It also contains information on the foundation and the activities of the Hellenic Institute for Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies in Venice, which has been housed since 1958 in the monumental buildings of the historic Campo dei Greci.
